2022 Belondrade Y Lurton Verdejo, Belondrade y Lurton, Rueda, Spain

The Belondrade y Lurton is Verdejo barrel-fermented with indigenous yeast and aged for ten months in oak barrels. Subtly smoky with aromas of toasted bread, sunflower seeds and almonds, with hints of complexity and wonderful elegance. The palate reveals a medium-bodied wine with good structure, full flavours, refreshing acidity with the telltale bitter finish of the Verdejo. Very recognizable as Verdejo and Rueda, though a barrel fermented version. This is a subtle, elegant Rueda like few others and is a revelation!

"The spicy 2022 Belondrade y Lurton was cropped from a warm and dry year when they had to harvest quite early. The nose shows no signs of excess ripeness; it feeels quite fresh and harmonious. It's elegant, surprisingly restrained, clean and with integrated oak, contained ripeness and 14% alcohol on the label. It's tasty and harmonious, finishing dry with a clean, long and chalky finish. .
