2022 Chenin Blanc, Boatmans Drift, Western Cape, South Africa
Boatmans Drift takes its name from the 18th century legend of the Flying Dutchman; a ship which was lost off the Cape of Good Hope in a storm. Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, this wine is a pale lemon in colour with a bouquet of apple and white flowers. The palate is crisp with notes of white peach, mango and guava and a fresh and zesty acidity.
12% ABV. Suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians.
"South Africa took Chenin Blanc (an important grape in the Loire Valley) to its heart and it is still the most widely planted grape in the Cape Wine Lands. Boatsman’s Drift which takes its name from the Flying Dutchman, a ghostly ship lost off the Cape of Good Hope and doomed to sail the seven seas forever, has crisp apple freshness on the nose so typical of the grape. Fruity in the middle tropical fruits, guavas and mango nice breadth of flavour but there is balance with citrus brightening the finish. A white that goes well with salmon and richer flavoured fish."
